That’s Me

Nathan King

The best thing we can do is the right thing,
because character matters.

Hi everyone! My name is Nathan King and I’m a 3rd generation native Floridian, and from what most people have told me, that is a rare thing to come by these days. I was born and raised in the Central Florida area. In my early years I was raised in Pine Hills then moving on to Apopka and now residing in Winter Garden, FL. Growing up in a diverse community like Central Florida, I learned very quickly how important diversity and culture means to people. At a young age I had a drive for ambition and curiosity. If there was a way to do something, I was certain to find it out and complete my mission. This has been true for me throughout my life. Ups and downs, twists and turns, and all those life lessons have molded me to be the person I am today.

Today, I am a father, a mentor, a partner, a friend, and I wouldn’t be who I am without faith and my family. Faith & family are a very important aspect of my life. Careers will come and go, so will friends, heck, you may even get frustrated with a crazy uncle, but in the end your faith and family is what you lean on.

Below you’ll see a set of core principles that guide me day-in and day-out.

CORE PRINCIPLES

Empathy

Too many of us operate from a narrow-minded focus on self-centered goals and objectives. Embracing an Outward Mindset enables individuals and organizations to make the one change that most dramatically improves performance, sparks collaboration, and accelerates innovation.

Positivity

Many times we can become consumed with tight deadlines and overwhelming responsibility getting caught up in our feelings of frustration, and it spreads. I believe it is important to remain positive through adversity, working hard and staying focused on the goal at hand and showing it to peers and partners because a positive attitude can lift everyone up.

Candor

Candor or more specifically Radical Candor is a tactic used when challenging peers and colleagues directly to show that I care personally about them. This approach has positively impacted teams I’ve worked with and encouraged them to do the best work while building trusted relationships.

IMPORTANCE OF WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Finding the balance can be the difference between stress and sanity.

Work-life balance is an important aspect of a healthy work environment. Maintaining work-life balance helps reduce stress and helps prevent burnout in the workplace. Chronic stress is one of the most common health issues in the workplace. It can lead to physical consequences such as hypertension, digestive troubles, chronic aches and pains and heart problems. Chronic stress can also negatively impact mental health because it’s linked to a higher risk of depression, anxiety and insomnia. By creating a work environment that prioritizes work-life balance, employers save money and maintain a healthier, more productive workforce.
